Pipeline Control System Migration

The challenge

Pipeline control cannot simply be switched off for a migration, so the cutover had to protect live operations throughout.

Thousands of points had to move without silent drift between the old and new systems.

The approach

• Ran the new system in parallel with the legacy platform to compare behavior before cutover.
• Phased the transition so each segment was proven before the next began.
• Kept a tested rollback path available at every step.

The outcome

• A controlled migration that protected continuous pipeline operations.
• Validated parity between old and new before any segment went live.
• A modern AVEVA platform in place with the legacy system retired cleanly.
