Multi-Basin IIoT Cloud Integration

Field data was trapped in dozens of disconnected systems. This project bridged thousands of assets to the cloud over MQTT and Sparkplug B, unifying everything into a single namespace that analytics, historians, and dashboards could all draw from.

The challenge

Remote sites sat on intermittent links, so naive polling lost data and overwhelmed bandwidth.

Each downstream tool wanted its own connection to the field, multiplying integrations and points of failure.

The approach

  • Deployed edge gateways with store-and-forward so no data is lost when a link drops.
  • Standardized on Sparkplug B for stateful, report-by-exception delivery with birth and death certificates.
  • Published all field data into one Unified Namespace that downstream systems subscribe to.
  • Fed historians, analytics, and operations dashboards from the namespace rather than from the field directly.

The outcome

  • Reliable, lossless field-to-cloud data even over poor connectivity.
  • A single integration surface that cut the cost of adding each new consumer.
  • Operations and analytics teams working from one consistent, live view of the field.
